Welcome message from our Principal

It is with great pride that I take on the role of Principal in Mercy Secondary School Inchicore this September.

To lead out on an educational vision in a community that I grew up in feels somewhat surreal and at times I find myself checking if it’s actually real, but then I remember my childhood here in Inchicore and think of all the intelligent and resilient role models that I was surrounded by and realise that it was them and this community that ignited in me the love of learning that I still hold dear today.

I have been privileged to work with the young women in Mercy Secondary School Inchicore for the past 13 years. During this time our school community has worked passionately to support every young person to firstly believe in themselves and then to realise that education empowers them as they work towards achieving their dreams.

Inchicore and Kilmainham is a rich, diverse and tight-knit community, as I become Principal of Mercy Inchicore my vision is to build upon the strong and dynamic foundations that already exist. I want to create an educational space for all young people where they feel like they belong and where they are strongly supported to raise aspirations and guided on how best to achieve academically.

With this vision in mind, Mercy Inchicore will become a co-educational school in September 2020 welcoming the young boys of Inchicore and Kilmainham into their first year. It is with the support of staff, parents/guardians and the wider community that this vision will be a reality and I look forward to building already strong relationships with you all as we begin a new journey in Mercy Inchicore and our community.
