Surprise of Science was developed by a cluster of 4 local schools in Inchicore, as an initiative funded by the Schools Excellence Fund. These include Mercy Secondary School, Inchicore National School, Our Lady of Lourdes and Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal.
The main aim of the initiative is to promote science across both primary and secondary schools, in the hope to show that science is accessible to all and make students aware of the importance of science in their lives now and in the future. Throughout the three years of the project, the schools have run a number of successful programmes and events between the schools. These included primary lab visits to our school, trips to Trinity College Dublin and a Careers Event based in science.
